Genuis Hour: Last Update

This is my last blog post about making perfume. My presentation went good and I didn’t mess up a lot. Well except for the fact that I got nervous and shattered the container it was in but thats all good because the class just walked around my desck and smelled the perfume. I had a lot of ups and downs but it was worth it.

Genius Hour: Update

HI everyone I am 100 percent going to call my expert just to see if I have done everything I wanted to for my project TONIGHT; I can’t wait any longer because I presenting on the 23rd and I am so nervous. I need to work on my slideshow for the presentation so I am going to do that right now. I also need to find a proper bottle to hold my perfume so the class can smell it!

Genius Hour: Update

Since I finished my perfume I am just working on my presentation. I am thinking of doing a slideshow with a video because I don’t think I am ready to do it live in front of the class. Obviously I would do some of the bits in – person but for most part on the video. Also if I have extra time I could add some fun blooper reels. Basically all I’m doing is working on my final presentation project!

Genius Hour: Update

Hi I’m back and I have finally finished my final perfume it has fermented and everything, I love the scent and it is not ichy or leave a rash or anything like that. All I need to do is contact my expert which I WILL DO TONIGHT I know I have been putting it off but I have to do it now while I can still go back tweak it a little. I also need to figure out how I am going to present my project to the class I’m thinking of doing a slideshow to show how to make it and then bring the final project to class but I don’t know yet. See you guys later!

Genius Hour: Update

This week I tried to salage my coconut oil perfume, spoiler alert it failed, it started to seperate again and I tried again but I experienced the same thing, so long story short that was a bust. Anyhow for my new perfume I made it last week and it turned out pretty good when using avocado oil. Although the scent is very strong (which I can fix by adding water once it has developed over 2 weeks) the formula itself is realy good and does not leave a rash so I’m going to stick to that same recipe just edit the scent and strongeness.

Genius Hour: Update

Hello and I am back from Christmas break and I tried to call my expert but they unfortunately were not open during Christmas so I am going to call them tonight. As for my actual perfume I tried to use avocado oil as well as jojoba oil as for right now they both are not seperating. I also used the same steps for making them as well as the same scent mixture if you were wondering I just switched the carrier oil. I am going to watch them ferment and in a week or 2 I will be able to see which ones smell is more pungent and I will use that one. Also with the coconut oil one that solidified I smelled it and relized that the scent itself was kinda nice so I drained the excess alcohol that didn’t solidify and I am going to try is as a balm sort of perfume. As for my original plan I’m relizing that I went off the plan a lot and just improvised for example I diched the steam method because I tried it 6 times and it never worked :(. Also I didn’t follow through with the bath and body works plan because it is just such a big company and theynever answered. See you guys next tommrow!

Genius Hour: Update

Hello there it is a new week and a new update, unfortunatly my expert has not contacted me back so I am going to call them instead to see if they responded that way. Also in terms of my perfume I learned that for my carrier oil I shouldn’t have used coconut oil because it started to settle and solidify. So instead in my next attempt I will use avocado oil and jojoba oil because that one didn’t solidify.

Genius Hour: Update

Hello and welcome back to my Genius Hour. I tried many different scents with my essential oils but the one that I ended up liking best was the lavender and eucalyptus scent. So now that I have the scent that I’m doing, I can start with actually making the perfume. I also said earlier that I will be trying 2 or 3 scents but I am going to try to make more scents after I get the formula down. So in terms of ther recipe I will be using an alchohol base, for my carrier oil I will be using either jojoba oil or coconut oil (I’ll try 2 baches, 1 with each) as well as about 25 drops of my essential oils. For the scent to develop it needs to sit for 2 days to 6 weeks and that is a very large range so I’m going to let it sit for about a week and leave an update if it needs more time. Finally, I will add 2 tablespoons of water and I should have my perfume. I will give you an update next week to show you my perfumes!

Genius Hour: Update

This week I was really busy so I didn’t have too much time to work on my project. Although this sucked I just bought more essential oils to mix and try diffrent scents. I also contacted my expert which was a small buisness in Edmonton called Amana Fragrences In an Instagram dm. I asked her for tips and tricks and her proccess on how she makes them so I will check back in with you guys next week and I will also mix new scents and give an update on that! Bye!
